Course Overview

Core Domestic Gas Safety (CCN1) re-assessment, plus appliances includes training and re-assessment on the following:

  • CCN1 – Core Domestic Gas Safety, including CPA1 (Combustion Performance Analysis)
  • CENWAT – Central Heating Boilers & Water Heaters
  • CKR1 – Cookers
  • HTR1 – Space Heaters (including Gas Fires and Wall Heaters)

Core Domestic Gas Safety CCN1 re-assessment training covers:

  • Combustion, relevant pressures and gas rates
  • Gas pipe work
  • Tightness testing and purging, including low and medium pressure
  • Chimney systems recognition and testing
  • Ventilation
  • Gas controls
  • Flue gas analysis
  • Installation defects
  • Basic gas safety fault finding

On successful completion of the course, candidates will be issued with the Logic Certification certificate in Core Domestic Gas Safety (CCN1) and the appliances they have undertaken.

Entry Requirements

The CCN1 re-assessment course is for gas installers who need to renew their domestic ACS qualifications.

In order to undertake re-assessment, operatives must complete the course no more than 12 months after the expiry date of their existing qualifications.

The CCN1 re-assessment can be completed up to six months before this expiry date.

Gas installers who have held the qualifications previously but have let them lapse by more than 12 month, must undertake Logic4training’s Domestic Gas Safety (CCN1) training and initial assessment course.

Candidates who have never held CCN1 but have transferable skills and experience may be eligible for the Logic4training Approved Prior Learning program.

Installers may only undertake gas appliance re-assessment in modules which they have previously been certificated under the ACS scheme.

Course Benefits

Membership of the Gas Safe Register is a legal requirement for any installer wishing to carry out gas work in the United Kingdom, Isle of Man and Guernsey. To register as a domestic gas installer, you must hold Core Domestic Gas Safety (CCN1) plus certification for the appliances you intend to work on.

Course Overview

Core Domestic Natural Gas Safety (CCN1) course is a necessary requirement of the Nationally Accredited Certification Scheme for Gas Fitting Operatives (ACS). Heating engineers may choose to undertake the Core Domestic Gas Safety (CCN1) as a standalone course if their appliance qualifications expire at a different time. Alternatively operatives may just require the CCN1 qualification if they no longer carry out practical work but wish to maintain their membership with the Gas Safe Register.

The cost of this gas safety course includes training, assessment and the certification fee. CCN1 training is not a mandatory prerequisite to the assessment.

CCN1 assessment takes the form of practical tests and multiple choice question papers. On successful completion, candidates will be issued with a Logic Certification certificate in Core Domestic Gas Safety (CCN1).

Core Domestic Gas Safety (CCN1) training covers:

  • Gas safety regulations and other relevant legislation (initial training only)
  • Combustion, relevant pressures and gas rates
  • Gas pipe work
  • Tightness testing and purging, including low and medium pressure
  • Chimney systems, recognition and testing
  • Ventilation
  • Gas controls
  • Flue gas analysis

Entry Requirements

For heating engineers whose qualifications expired more than 12 months ago, initial training and assessment are required. For those installers whose qualifications expired less than 12 months ago, re-assessment training and associated assessment are required. Logic4training’s Core Domestic Gas Safety (CCN1) course covers both routes.

The CCN1 course is a prerequisite to all appliance modules and assessments. Logic4training also offers a Core Domestic Gas Safety (CCN1) plus appliances training and assessment package for initial and re-assessment routes.

Course Benefits

Membership with Gas Safe Register is a legal requirement for any operative wishing to carry out gas work in the United Kingdom, Isle of Man and Guernsey. To register as a domestic installer, operatives must hold Core Domestic Gas Safety (CCN1) plus certification for the appliances they intend to work on.
