Domestic Gas Foundation (Managed Learning Programme)

Course Overview

Our Domestic Gas Foundation course is designed for ACS Category 2 and 3 candidates wanting to enter the gas industry.

Category 2 trainees will hold a recognised qualification in the mechanical services engineering sector (e.g. plumbing) but lack gas training and experience, while Category 3 applicants are new to the gas industry and will need more intense training.

Course Benefits

Membership of the Gas Safe Register is a legal requirement for any installer wishing to carry out gas work in the United Kingdom, Isle of Man and Guernsey. To register as a domestic gas installer, you must hold Core Domestic Gas Safety (CCN1) plus certification for the appliances you intend to work on.

Further Information

Assessments normally consist of a combination of practical and theory examinations. The course requires 35 days in a college environment (with the schedule decided by the training provider) plus ‘on the job’ training with candidates providing work-based evidence under the supervision of a Gas Safe registered installer. Your Gas Foundation Certificate will allow you to undertake the ACS gas assessments, providing entry at category 2.
